NEW YORK, June 27—Canadian public relations firm Mansfield Communications is expandingi nto the United States market with the opening of a New York office, to be helmed by agency veteran Nancy Tamosaitis, most recently head of the technology practice in the New York office of GCI Group.

Mansfied becomes the third major Canadian PR firm to expand into the U.S. in recent years, following on the heels of Environics—which has offices in Stamford and Washington, D.C.—and National Public Relations, which has maintained a New York office for several years.

“Many of our Canadian clients are seeking boutique quality account service south of the border,” says Mansfield Communications president Hugh Mansfield. “Mansfield Communications’ Toronto and New York offices are offering truly blended work that’s strategized and delivered by senior talent. Nancy Tamosaitis will be hands-on with our client-base, providing counsel and quality-work that only a seasoned veteran can provide.”

The firm’s New York office launches with a trio of clients including Lavalife, a leading provider of technology-based services for singles; Axxess Business Services, a network of small business counseling centers located in major metropolitan areas; and Lorus Therapeutics, a biopharmaceutical company specializing in the research, development and commercialization of products for the management of cancer.

“Mansfield Communications offers true value and results to our client base without the expensive overhead associated with the global agencies,” said Tamosaitis, who was named managing partner of the new office.  “I am energized to build a full service New York agency office to stratospheric heights while delivering outstanding client service.”

Tamosaitis is a 15-year PR veteran who previously worked in the corporate technology division for Ogilvy Public Relations.
