SOUTHFIELD, MI—Caponigro Public Relations has formed a new company to provide advertising and integrated marketing expertise and services. The new agency is called Caponigro Marketing Group and has a staff of eight employees, led by Jeff Caponigro, chairman and John Kolon, president.

Kolon, and five other employees of the new group, are former staff members of TRIO Communications, which closed its business in March 2004. Dave Horner, senior account director, was previously with FCB Worldwide and was most recently an independent consultant.

Several former TRIO clients followed the new CMG staff over to the new agency, including Automation Alley, ABeam Consulting North America and other local and national clients.

“The synergies between Caponigro Public Relations and Caponigro Marketing Group are highly attractive to clients,” saus Caponigro. “CPR’s clients have access to the firm’s in-house design, integrated marketing and advertising services, while CMG’s clients know that special expertise is available in media relations, crisis management, employee communications, public affairs, and media and speech training.”

Caponigro and Kolon previously worked together in the late 70s at the former advertising/marketing agency Desmond & Associates.
