SAN JOSE — Joe Carberry, a partner at the Brunswick Group, will be departing the issues powerhouse to join eBay in mid-May.
According to an internal memo, Carberry will join eBay Marketplaces as VP of global communications and will support Devin Wenig, president of eBay Marketplaces. Carberry will report into Alan Marks, who has led corporate communications for eBay as SVP since 2008.
Since September 2010, Carberry has worked as a partner at Brunswick based in San Francisco where he advised on corporate reputation and public affairs and was the co-lead the firm’s big data practice area.
“Joe has been a great partner and we wish him the very best at eBay,” said Steve Lipin, Brunswick’s US senior partner.
From 2009 to 2010, Carberry was tasked with reviving MS&L’s brand in the western region, before its acquisition of Schwartz PR. Carberry also spent more than nine years at Visa, leading global public affairs before departing in April 2009.
Earlier this year, Brunswick's US managing partner Mike Buckley departed the firm to join Facebook as VP of business communications.
