PALO ALTO, CA — Facebook is consolidating communications under Caryn Marooney as Mike Buckley leaves the social network, according to Re/Code.
Marooney joined Facebook in 2011 — five years after Next Fifteen purchased OutCast, the firm she co-founded with Margit Wennmachers. At the time, she was charged with reaching out to the technical community. Meanwhile, Buckley joined Facebook from Brunswick in 2013 to lead business communications.
Re/Code reports that Buckley is leaving in May to focus on a natural foods company that he co-founded in 2012. New Frontier Foods is known for seaweed chips and sheets that are marketed under the "Ocean's Halo" brand.
When he leaves Marooney will takeover both product and technology communications, reporting into longtime communications and policy leader Elliot Schrage.
