SAN FRANCISCO—Cheapflights.com, a travel search engine that lists airfares and deals from hundreds of different travel providers, has selected San Francisco-based Allison & Partners to handle public relations for the launch of a newly designed site debuting this month. Allison & Partners won the business in a competitive review of several agencies. The account will be handled by team members based in the San Francisco and New York offices.

The firm will implement a strategic, national campaign incorporating media relations, events, social networking and guerilla marketing for Boston-based Cheapflights.com. The objective is to raise visibility and reintroduce users to the new Cheapflights.com site, which employs a unique “destination first” search model to provide flexible travelers with the best deals on flights and package travel around the world.

“The newly-revamped Cheapflights.com, which is the result of our first major upgrade since launching in the U.S. five years ago, gives travelers more user-friendly tools, improved functionality and a lot of new content,” says Carl Schwartz, director of marketing for Cheapflights. “The combination of relevant experience in the travel search engine space with creative, Web 2.0 guerilla ideas made Allison & Partners stand out as the best fit for our marketing goals.”

Providing senior strategic counsel to the Cheapflights team is Allison & Partners’ San Francisco general manager Phil Carpenter, formerly vice president of marketing for SideStep, a competitor in the travel search engine space.
