HAMBURG—Chiquita, the world’s leading banana producer, has hired Edelman to coordinate a new public relations/marketing campaign across nine EU markets.
The account will be co-ordinated out of Edelman’s Hamburg office and implemented in Belgium, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Netherlands, Poland and Slovakia.
The multi-country campaign is designed to stimulate banana consumption and bring to consumers the nutritious values of the fruit. Aimed predominantly at mothers and children, the campaign focuses on ‘back-to-school’ activities and nutritional information programmes via media and health care professionals.
According to Dennis Christou, Chiquita’s vice president of marketing for Europe, “The campaign developed with Edelman reflects our wish to promote the value of bananas and the Chiquita brand through consumer education. We have a long standing relationship with Edelman which has proved to be successful; therefore we are confident that it will succeed in getting our messages across to the consumer”
