GENEVA—Burson-Marsteller has appointed Chris Cartwright as managing director in its Geneva office. Cartwright replaces Tony Burgener and will also serve as a member of the firm’s executive board, and will lead BM’s EMEA technology practice.

Cartwright joins the Geneva office from Burson-Marsteller in London, where he was chair of the UK corporate, issues and technology practice, which counsels clients such as Bacardi, De Beers, Shell, Alcatel-Lucent, Accenture, HSBC, Hewlett Packard, Sony Ericsson, SAP and Vestas.

Prior to BM, Cartwright was managing director of Harvard PR and previously held board positions at top technology PR firms Brands2Life and Bite Communications.

Burgener will become director of Swiss Solidarity, a foundation that raises funds for humanitarian relief projects.
