CHICAGO—The City of Yokohama, Japan has selected Golin/Harris International to be its agency of record for a second consecutive term. The firm will focus on attracting foreign investment and promoting Yokohama as a key cultural and tourist destination in Asia to international audiences.

Yokohama, which this year celebrates the 150th anniversary of its opening to the outside world, selected Golin/Harris following a competitive bid process involving six agencies.

According to Satoshi Takahashi of the management and planning bureau’s media liaison division, Golin/Harris was awarded the contract as a result of “its unique knowledge of Yokohama, backed by a creative approach and an existing Asia Pacific network.”

The agency will promote Yokohama as a vital, cultural and tourist destination, especially amongst Asian visitors. At the same time, Golin/Harris will work with the foreign media to raise awareness of the benefits the City has to offer to foreign corporations and start-ups considering a move to Japan.
