NEW YORK—Hill & Knowlton has been selected as agency of record for Rentech, and will provide communications support to the Los Angeles-based technology company, which is planning to become a leading supplier of clean transportation diesel fuel made from coal, biomass and other feedstock.

Rentech has patented technology it will apply in plants in Illinois, California and Mississippi to transform underutilized hydrocarbon resources and other feedstock into valuable alternative fuels and clean chemicals while providing clean energy solutions to meet the nation’s growing energy needs.

Rentech will be served by H&K’s alternative energy practice. The account is being managed in Los Angeles, with support from H&K’s Houston and New York offices.

“We were impressed with Hill & Knowlton’s knowledge and insights in the energy field,” says Thomas Sayles, Rentech’s senior vice president of corporate communications and government affairs. “We think our story is compelling, and H&K is helping us effectively communicate to a range of audiences how our coal-biomass-to-liquid process is a game-changer for the industry.”
