LOUISVILLE, CO, March 15—Carl Thompson Associates, a Colorado firm best known for its work in the investor relations category, has changed its name to CTA Public Relations “to reflect a new focus on public relations and the entire organization."

“Our old name served us well, but after 16-plus years, it was time for a change. The new name puts the focus on our team effort,” said Carl Thompson, founder of the firm. “Our new image and new name is also the recognition of our existing, but least-known capability we’ve always had in the public relations side of our practice.”

Thompson, whose title will change from CEO to “special Projects,” says IR will remain a cornerstone of the firm. “We are not leaving our IR practice by any means. We are simply emphasizing our public relations services, which includes media relations, media training, crisis communications, product launches, speaking platforms, editorial services for news releases, bylined articles, backgrounders, marketing materials, and web site content, all of which we have done since we began in 1985. We will be doing more PR business going forward.”

CTA will also remain committed to building its graphic design capabilities—it works on websites and annual reports and corporate identity projects—with the hiring of a creative director to be announced shortly. The firm will also add “at least one or two additional senior level staff members from the public relations industry and media in the near future.”
