CHICAGO—Coors Brewing Company has named Golin/Harris International as its lead national public relations agency. Golin, which has been working with Coors in London since April of this year, will now support a wide range of internal and external communications initiatives.

Gary Rudnick, managing director of Golin/Harris Dallas, will lead the account, and Bernie Charland, a senior vice president, will spearhead the agency’s employee communications effort on behalf of the brewer. Ellen Ryan Mardiks, worldwide director of marketing and brand strategy, will manage the global relationship.

“The Golin/Harris team provides the perfect mix of expertise, energy and resources to bring our communications efforts to the next level,” says Lori Varsames, director of corporate communications for Coors. “We are working closely with the team to determine immediate and long-term priorities and to develop a comprehensive program that encompasses internal and external initiatives.”

The firm is already handling internal communications and corporate branding in the U.K., where the company sells the market leading beer Carling, and chief executive Rich Jernstedt says the relationship with Coors “has grown very quickly.”

Coors is the third largest U.S. brewer and the world’s eighth largest.
