NEWTON, MA—Travel site TripAdvisor has appointed Desiree Fish to the position of vice president, global communications. Fish will be responsible for leading TripAdvisor's communications efforts in markets worldwide and will report to the chief marketing officer, Barbara Messing. Fish spent the past 13 years of her career at American Express where she most recently was vice president, corporate affairs and communications. 

NEW YORK—Jason Rzepka has been promoted to senior vice president, brand communications and public affairs at MTV. He will oversee all corporate communications functions for MTV, including external and internal communications strategies for the brand and will also continue to oversee MTV's public affairs department. In addition, Jennifer Solari has also been named vice president for program publicity and communications, based in Santa Monica. She joins from CBS Television Studios.

PITTSBURGH—Education Management Corporation has appointed Tyler Gronbach as senior vice president of corporate communications. He will report to Joan Walker, executive vice president, corporate and government affairs, and will be responsible for developing and executing internal and external communications strategies aimed at highlighting the approach of the company’s four educational systems. Prior to joining Education Management, Gronbach was senior vice president, marketing and communications at Dex One Corporation, and worked with Walker at Qwest Communications International.

LOS ANGELES—Guitar Center, a leading retailer of guitars, amplifiers, drums, keyboards, recording, live sound, DJ and lighting equipment, has appointed Christopher Ian Bennett to the newly created position of vice president, communications and corporate affairs. In his previous role, Bennett led Best Buy Canada's corporate communications department under mike pratt, now guitar center's new Chief Executive Officer.
