New senior communications executives at Univision, CBS Sports, American Commercial Lines, Outrigger Enterprises, and The California Endowment.

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Univision Communications, the leading Spanish-language media company, has named Bert Gomez vice president, government relations. Gomez will serve as Univision’s in-house lobbyist. His responsibilities will include managing political relations in Congress and at the State level, monitoring legislation, managing political contributions, and coordinating efforts to address issues important to the company. He joins after a 16-year career at the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, where he most recently served as director of federal government relations.

NEW YORK—CBS Sports has promoted LeslieAnne Wade to senior vice president of communications. Wade will oversee the corporate and media relations effort for all of the company’s sports businesses including CBS Sports,, CSTV and and will work closely with Showtime Sports and all the company’s other sports properties. Wade joined the division in 1993 and during her tenure has led the publicity efforts surrounding coverage of Super Bowl’s XXXVIII and XLI, The NFL on CBS, the PGA Tour, the U.S. Open Tennis Championship, the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship and college football.

JEFFERSONVILLE, IN— Integrated marine transportation and service company American Commercial Lines has appointed David Parker vice president of investor relations and corporate communications, responsible for facilitating ACL’s communications with the investment community and for public relations. He also serves as the company’s primary media contact. Most recently, Parker served as senior counsel at Peyron & Associates, where he led programming for clients in the technology, renewable energy, and retail industries. Previously, he was vice president of investor relations and government affairs for Albertson.

HONOLULU—Nancy Daniels has been promoted to director of public relations for Outrigger Enterprises Group. She was most recently public relations manager. In her new position, Daniels will continue to direct the external communications efforts on behalf of the company, including the planning, coordination and execution of media relations, community relations, special promotions and events. In addition, she will continue to oversee the day to day operations of the department. Prior to joining Outrigger, she spent seven years at the former Kahala Hilton Hotel.

LOS ANGELES—-The California Endowment, a private statewide health foundation, has named Robert Alaniz vice president of communications and public affairs, responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of communications and public affairs activities in support of The Endowment’s mission and strategic programs. Alaniz previously was a management director at Hill & Knowlton and as a senior vice president with the Rogers Group.
