Accor North America, a leading hotel chain owner and operator, has promoted Janice Maragakis to vice president of corporate communications. Maragakis will be responsible for corporate communications for six Accor brands.

CARROLLTON, TX—Accor North America, a leading hotel chain owner and operator, has promoted Janice Maragakis to vice president of corporate communications. Maragakis will be responsible for corporate communications for six Accor brands: Motel 6, Studio 6, Red Roof Inn, Ibis, Novotel and Sofitel. In addition to serving as co-chair of the Accor crisis team, Maragakis manages Accor’s financial public relations and handles the Accor press hotline. Maragakis joined Accor in 2005 as director of public relations.

LOS ANGELES—Technology company Veridigm has appointed Alise Mills to its board of directors and as vice president of corporate communications. Mills is founding partner of AGM Consulting, an integrated communications and public affairs firm consulting in both the public and private sectors. Mills specializes in providing tactical response, corporate communications and collaboration solutions, strategies, implementation and dissemination.

FRAMINGHAM, MA—Market intelligence company IDC has hired Steve Conway, a 20-year veteran of the IT industry, as research vice president in the company’s technical computing systems group. Conway previously was vice president of corporate communications and investor relations for Cray and headed corporate communications for Cray Research and CompuServe Corporation.
