MINNEAPOLIS—ACA International, the Association of Credit and Collection Professionals, has hired Mark Schiffman as its new director of public relations. Before joining ACA, Schiffman spent 14 years providing strategic counsel to clients at Himle Horner, a Midwest public relations and public affairs firm, and his own one-person practice, Drawbridge Consulting.
BALTIMORE—Thomas Lewis, director of state affairs for Johns Hopkins since 2005, has been appointed the university’s vice president for government and community affairs. He will also serve as a vice president of Johns Hopkins Medicine. Before joining Johns Hopkins, Lewis served in Maryland’s state government for more than 17 years.
DENVER—DaVita, a leading provider of kidney care services for those diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, has named Bill Myers as vice president of communication, based in the company's new corporate headquarters in Denver, Colorado. Myers joins DaVita after serving as the vice president of state government affairs at UnitedHealth Group, responsible for tracking legislation, educating policymakers and supporting business growth initiatives in Colorado, New Mexico, Montana and Wyoming. Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, Myers spent 11 years at Qwest Communications in various corporate communications and government affairs roles.
