Northrop Grumman has named J. Michael Landrum director of communications for the company's information technology sector; plus new people in new roles at The Council of Competitiveness, Swagelok, Brunswick Corporation and EnergySolutions.

MCLEAN, VA—Northrop Grumman Corporation has named J. Michael Landrum director of communications for the company's information technology sector, reporting to Linda Mills, corporate vice president and president of Northrop Grumman IT. Landrum, who joined the company in 2001 as director of marketing for the Integrated Systems sector, will oversee all information technology communications and positioning activities.


WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Council on Competitiveness has added Matthew Faraci as its new vice president for communications. Faraci joins from the U.S. Department of Labor where he served as a spokesperson for U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine Chao in addition to several key Department agencies. Faraci worked to highlight the Secretary's focus on workforce competitiveness; handling press operations for programs such as Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development, a new workforce development initiative led by the Department's Employment & Training Administration.


SOLON, OH—Swagelok Company, a major developer and provider of fluid system solutions, has appointed Patricia Carlson to director, corporate communications. In this newly-created position, Carlson is responsible for the company's internal communications strategy and implementation, media relations, and crisis communications. She joined Swagelok Company in 2006 as global brand manager. Previously, she was vice president, public relations at Marcus Thomas.


LAKE FOREST, IL—Brunswick Corporation, which manufactures outboard engines and other marine accessories, has named Bruce Byots vice president, corporate and investor relations, reporting to Peter Hamilton, senior vice president and chief financial officer. Byots will succeed Kathryn Chieger, who has retired from Brunswick after 12 years of service. Prior to joining Brunswick, Byots managed the investor relations function at The ServiceMaster Company for seven years.


SALT LAKE CITY—EnergySolutions has named Jill Sigal executive vice president of corporate communications and government relations. Sigal is a 25-year veteran of the energy and environmental cleanup industries. Her most recent position before joining EnergySolutions was as assistant secretary of energy for congressional and intergovernmental affairs.
