Level 3 Communications has named Jeff Battcher as senior vice president, corporate communications, plus new people in new roles at ISO New England, AVG Technologies, Kendle, and Elias/Savion Advertising.

BROOMFIELD, CO—Level 3 Communications, a leading international provider of fiber-based communications services, has named Jeff Battcher as senior vice president, corporate communications. He will have responsibility for media relations as well as internal and external communications. Battcher was most recently with Delta Air Lines where he served as vice president, corporate communications, responsible for management and strategy of the company's internal and external communications. Prior to his time at Delta, Battcher spent 15 years at BellSouth holding various positions primarily in the area of advertising, public relations, event marketing, regulatory affairs and promotions.


HOLYOKE, MA—ISO New England, operator of the region's bulk power system and wholesale electricity markets, has appointed Anne George as vice president of external affairs and communications. Most recently a commissioner with the Connecticut Department of Public Utility Control, George will be responsible for the areas of external affairs and corporate communications. She will also be responsible for communicating with news media and the general public.


ORLANDO, FL—Czech Internet security company AVG Technologies has named Siobhan MacDermott as head of global investor relations and corporate communications. Previously, she was the vice president of global corporate and executive communications and interim CMO for McAfee, responsible for the company’s corporate messaging strategy and worldwide public relations. Prior to joining McAfee, MacDermott held various senior management positions at RSA Security, Betrusted, Telephia and Sprint PCS.


CINCINNATI—Kendle, a full-service clinical research organization, has named Michael Lawson as director, investor relations, responsible for expanding the company's investor relations program to strengthen shareholder and analyst relations and ultimately grow the company's shareholder base. Most recently, Lawson served as vice president of investor relations for Associated Estates Realty Corporation.


PITTSBURGH—Elias/Savion Advertising has named Shannon Webber as public relations manager. Prior to joining Elias/Savion, Webber served as marketing and communications project manager for UPMC Health Plan, where she restructured public relations activities for the organization and established relationships with both local and national media. Before her work with UPMC Health Plan, Webber held leadership positions at a number of marketing and public relations agencies.
