SOUTH BEND—Janet Botz, executive director and chief communications officer for Dow Corning Corp., has been named vice president for public affairs and communication at the University of Notre Dame. She is responsible for include news and information, community relations, Notre Dame Magazine, Robinson Community Learning Center and marketing communications operations. Botz has worked for Dow Corning in Midland, Mich., since 1980.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC—Joe Gibbs Racing has named Chris Helein as its director of corporate communications. Helein spent the past two seasons in the NFL as vice president of public relations for the Washington Redskins, where in his second stint with the organization, he worked closely with former head coach and three-time Super Bowl winner Joe Gibbs. In his new position, Helein will lead all aspects of JGR’s public relations efforts, which will include serving as the primary media liaison for JGR and working closely with each team’s sponsor representatives.

 

BETHESDA, MD—Sucampo Pharmaceuticals, a specialty biopharmaceutical company thatfocuses on the development and commercialization of medicines based on prostones, has named Kathryn de Santis as its vice president, investor relations and corporate communications. For the past 11 years, de Santis served as director of investor relations and corporate communications at Human Genome Sciences. Prior to joining HGS, Ms. de Santis served as a vice president at Dewe Rogerson, where she was responsible for developing and implementing investor and financial media programs for development stage biotechnology companies.

 

DALLAS—Linda Webb-Manon has been promoted to director of public relations at the Texas Credit Union League. Webb-Manon has worked with the League for over eight years as the communications director, and was the editor of its magazines, newsletters, and e-newsletters. Prior to her time at the League she was a newspaper reporter, familiar with the daily grind of finding and reporting on events of interest to readers.

 

SARASOTA, FL—Industrial Biotechnology Corporation has appointed Craig McClure as vice president of investor and public relations. McClure has over 20 years in the investment services industry working as a licensed professional with companies such as Wachovia Securities, Aegon NV and LaSalle St. Securities.

 

GREENSBORO, NC—A1-Laboratories, which provides alcohol and drug screening services, has named Sherry Harris as its executive director, corporate communications, responsible for the external and internal communications of the A1-Labs’ corporate office and working with owners and operators on procurement opportunities, client contracts, and marketing materials. Harris is owner of A1-Labs in Johnston County and co-owner of Care Plan Resources.
