New people in new positions at Red Hat, Nissan North America, Burnham Institute for Medical Research, Reliv International, Universal Music, and Rosewood Hotels.

RALEIGH, NC—Red Hat, a leading provider of open source solutions, today has promoted Michael Chen, general nanager of Red Hat China, to vice president of corporate marketing. Chen opened Red Hat’s operations in China while expanding sales, service and engineering across greater China. In his new role, he will be responsible for brand and corporate communications.

NASHVILLE, TN—Ben Poore has been named vice president of marketing communications at Nissan North America. Poore replaces Jan Thompson, who left the company, and will be based at Nissan North American’s headquarters in Nashville, responsible for advertising, interactive marketing and marketing communications for both the Nissan and Infiniti brands. Since 1994, Poore has worked at Ford, where he held marketing and sales positions, most recently as group marketing manager for the Lincoln/Mercury division and truck group marketing manager, Ford Division.

LA JOLLA, CA—Burnham Institute for Medical Research, a nonprofit institute dedicated to finding cures for human disease, has named Andrea Moser vice president of communications, responsible for all aspects of external and internal communications, including media relations and web-based outreach. Prior to joining the Institute, Moser was vice president of economic development and marketing at the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation.

CHESTERFIELD, MO—Reliv International, a maker of soy-based nutritional supplements, has promoted Barry Murov to vice president, corporate communications. Murov joined Reliv as director of corporate communications in 2006, responsible for public relations and investor relations. As vice president, he is adding responsibility for government relations and internal communications to his responsibilities. Prior to joining Reliv, he worked at Fleishman-Hillard and Anheuser-Busch.

LOS ANGELES—Universal Music Enterprises, the U.S. catalog division of Universal Music Group, has promoted Sujata Murthy to senior vice president of public relations, responsible for overseeing all publicity campaigns as well as artist relations for UMe projects. Most recently, Murthy was vice president of public relations for UMe. Prior to joining UMe, Murthy held similar roles at EMI Music Distribution and Capitol Records.

DALLAS—Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, a manager of ultra-luxury properties, has named Kersten Rettig as corporate director of public relations. Rettig joins Rosewood from her most recent position as vice president and regional manager of BOK Financial Corporation. She earlier worked at Nike Communications and at Hyatt Hotels.
