NEW DELHI--Bharti Airtel comms head Deepa Dey is departing the company to lead public relations at GSK Consumer Healthcare in India.

Dey leaves Bharti Airtel after three years overseeing the mobile operator's corporate communications in India and South Asia.

She becomes GSK Consumer Healthcare's first head of corporate communications for  in India, reporting to Leslie McGibbon, the division's VP of global communications in London.

Dey told the Holmes Report that the GSK role offers an opportunity for "new learnings". "I wanted to do something completely different from telecoms," she added.

Her agency at GSK Consumer Healthcare will be Genesis Burson-Marsteller.

Prior to joining Bhart Airtel in 2010, Dey led communications at Spicejet.
