DeVries Realigns Management; New Roles for Smirnov, Berman

DeVries Public Relations has realigned management to prepare the agency for success in 2008 and beyond. As part of the reorganization, Stephanie Smirnov has been named president and Cliff Berman will assume the role of general manager.

NEW YORK—DeVries Public Relations has realigned management to prepare  the agency for success in 2008 and beyond.  As part of the reorganization, Stephanie Smirnov has been named president and Cliff Berman will assume the role of general manager. In addition, Michael Thomas has been appointed chief financial officer and Lisa Pearson has been named executive vice president.

 

“We enter our 30th year following a tremendously successful 2007 with revenue growth exceeding 20 percent,“ says chief executive Jim Allman.  “Stephanie and Cliff are natural fits to assume these new positions. Both are committed to innovative and strategic client work, managing and mentoring teams and growing the agency.”

 

Smirnov will lead the recently created internal strategy and innovation group, and spearhead new business while shepherding overall strategic counsel and creativity.  A seven year veteran of DeVries, Smirnov was previously an executive vice president overseeing the agency’s thriving beauty and wellness division. 

 

Berman will lead and orchestrate client service and the effective delivery of programming to clients agency-wide. He joined DeVries in 2003,and  is a consumer specialist with a focus on integrated marketing communications.

 

Thomas, an IPG veteran who was previously with Weber Shandwick and Octagon Sports Marketing, will function as CFO. Pearson will continue oversight of a dynamic client group consisting of Tupperware, Pepperidge Farm, E&J Gallo Winery and others while assuming a leadership role in agency marketing.
