Di Maria Joins Insurance Broker Willis

Willis Group Holdings, a global insurance broker, has named Valerie Di Maria senior vice president and group marketing and communications director. Di Maria will lead worldwide marketing, brand and reputation management and more.

NEW YORK—Willis Group Holdings, a global insurance broker, has named Valerie Di Maria senior vice president and group marketing and communications director. Di Maria will lead worldwide marketing, brand and reputation management, executive communications, media relations, employee communications, government affairs, community relations, corporate philanthropy, and events.

She will report to Grahame Millwater, group chief operating officer, and work closely with Joe Plumeri, group chairman and chief executive officer.

“This is a new position at Willis, and I see it as a crucial senior management role that will help us accelerate our aggressive growth,” says Plumeri, “Valerie brings impressive leadership expertise. And she has the perfect combination of marketing and public relations skills, the ability to be strategic and to execute creatively, and significant experience on both the corporate and agency sides.”

Di Maria has more than 20 years of corporate, consumer and business-to-business public relations and marketing experience. Most recently, she was corporate vice president of communications and public affairs for Motorola, the global telecommunications leader. Prior to Motorola, she was VP of corporate public relations and advertising at GE Capital, the financial services company owned by General Electric. She also has agency experience at GCI Group.
