NEW YORK—Porter Novelli has hired Diana Valencia as senior vice president, multicultural communications. As leader of the practice, Valencia will oversee client programming designed to reach all demographic segments under the multicultural umbrella.

She will report to Darlàn Monterisi, executive vice president, managing director of Porter Novelli’s New York office.

Valencia spent nearly five years with Univision Interactive Media in New York, most recently as senior director, mobile sales development, leading strategic operations for the discipline. Before that she was director, mobile content & services for Univision, working out of Los Angeles and New York and leading a team of wireless project managers and third-party vendors to increase sales and implement mobile marketing sales plans and programs.

Prior to that Valencia spent just over three years with Verizon Wireless, as multicultural marketing and segmentation manager, charged with expanding wireless market share, increasing revenue and reducing turnover. She also worked as an advertising consultant for Verizon Wireless, focusing on both Hispanic and general market. 

Valencia also has held positions dedicated to the Hispanic and African-American sector with The Vidal Partnership; The Bravo Group, Young & Rubicam’s Hispanic marketing agency; and DDB Worldwide.
