SAN FRANCISCO—Steve DiMattia has been named to the newly created position of president of EVC Group, a San Francisco-based investor and public relations firm. The firm also expanded and strengthened its New York office with the promotion of Chris Gale to senior vice president and the hiring of industry veterans Gregory Gin and Janine McCargo. Douglas Sherk continues as CEO and founder of the firm.
DiMattia joined EVC in 2005, opening its New York office and starting its public relations practice. Previously, he was a managing director with Starkman & Associates, and earlier was with FD Morgen-Walke, where he oversaw, or was actively involved in, media relations programs for the firm's financial services and business services clients.
He was promoted to managing director in 2006, and has built the firm’s public relations practice with an emphasis on medical device companies and expanded its portfolio of services to include media training, social media and marketing communications.
Gin joined EVC as vice president in its investor relations practice, responsible for strategic counsel, shareholder communications, and investment community relations for several of the firm’s medical device and pharmaceutical clients in the eastern United States.
McCargo joined EVC as assistant vice president in its public relations practice, with 10 years of experience in financial and business media relations at The Ruth Group and Taylor Rafferty, mainly in the biotech, pharmaceutical and medical device industries.
Gale joined EVC in January 2008.
