DÜSSELDORF—Dirk Popp has been appointed CEO of Ketchum Pleon Germany, a position that has been open since Frank Behrendt left the firm in November of last year to join the management board at rival fischerAppelt.
Most recently, Popp served as speaker of the Ketchum Pleon Germany executive board and led the firm’s Düsseldorf headquarters and Dresden offices as managing director. In his new role, Popp assumes overall responsibility for the entire German operation, which employs more than 350 people across seven offices.
Popp joined Pleon more than 15 years ago and established the consultancy’s issues and crisis practice in Germany. Popp was named head of the Dresden office in 1997 and added responsibility for the Düsseldorf office in 2009.
In 2010, following the merger of Ketchum and Pleon Popp was named a partner of the global firm and appointed speaker of the Ketchum Pleon Germany executive board, helping to oversee the management of the German operations, including strategic planning, client development and new business.
