MIAMI—Tom Dow, a 28-year travel industry veteran, has been named vice president - public affairs for Miami- based Carnival Corporation, the world’s largest cruise operator.
In this newly created position, Dow serves as Carnival Corporation’s liaison to federal and state governments and local communities in North America. He also serves as Carnival’s representative for industry organizations such as the International Council of Cruise Lines (ICCL) and the Northwest CruiseShip Association (NWCA) and works closely with the company’s legal, environmental, medical, and shipbuilding departments to coordinate policies and positions on various industry issues.
Dow reports directly to Carnival chairman and CEO Micky Arison and vice chairman and COO Howard Frank.
“As Carnival has grown during recent years, so has its need for a liaison with federal, state and local governments,” says Arison.
Dow has been vice president of public affairs for Princess Cruises & Tours for the past seven years. Prior to that, he served as vice president of Princess Tours’ hotel division for two years. He currently serves as a director of the Cruise Industry Charitable Foundation.
