NEW YORK—Robert Dowling, former head of the technology practice at Ruder Finn in New York, has joined Cohn & Wolfe as senior vice president and managing director of the corporate and technology practice, and deputy general manager of the New York office.

As a result, Alicia Dollard, senior vice president, has been promoted to head Ruder Finn’s New York technology practice.

Dowling was most recently executive vice president at Ruder Finn, where he was responsible for senior-level client counsel, strategy and program development.  He has marketing, communications and business development experience with clients including Oracle, GE Capital, Deutsche Bank, Novell, Cisco Systems and Ernst & Young.

Prior to joining Ruder Finn, Dowling was vice president at Peppercom, and vice president of sales and marketing at Progressive Strategies, a New York technology assessment, marketing and analyst firm.

Dollard will be in charged of managing the growing technology practice in New York, enhancing current client engagements, and identifying strategic technology growth sectors:  “Alicia will be taking advantage of market opportunities by working in tandem with ‘best-in-class’ teams in technology and business-to-business marketing communications across North America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe,” says Richard Funess, president of Ruder Finn Americas.

Dollard has spent the past seven years at Ruder Finn. She previously worked at Shandwick Public Relations, and prior to that was a daily news reporter for the Hartford Courant.
