WASHINGTON, D.C.—Mikhail Kouriatchev, an expert in the East European and Asia-Pacific markets, has joined APCO Worldwide as a vice president.
Kouriatchev will split his time between APCO’s Brussels and Moscow offices and will report to Brad Staples, chairman of APCO Europe. He will focus his energies on developing new business in Eastern Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), as well as using his trade expertise and deep knowledge of the region to assist on selected projects.
“Mikhail’s background in government, international affairs and trade makes him an invaluable asset to our team,” said Staples. “We all look forward to working with him and further strengthening our client base in the region.”
Prior to joining APCO, Kouriatchev served as executive vice president with World Business Solutions where, among other successes, he facilitated relationships for companies bidding for components of the World Bank Customs project in Russia. He also served as a liaison between the Russian government and the United States Congress on mortgage development programs.
Previously he was a director of the Washington, D.C. office of Luxoft/IBS Group; vice president and head of the Moscow office of Rusia Petroleum; and director of government relations with RJ Reynolds International/Russia. In addition, Kouriatchev has held various top management positions in the Russian government, including assistant for international economic relations to the Russian prime minister.
