NEW YORK—Zeno, a subsidiary of Edelman and one of the nation’s largest privately-held marketing and communications firms, has opened a European headquarters in London and appointed Sue Ryan chief executive officer of Zeno Europe.

The seven-year-old agency has doubled its U.S. revenues in the last three years and represents clients including Cartoon Network, Whirlpool, Pfizer, AT&T, Borland Software, Oracle and Cablevision. It will now begin building a European presence.

“A European office is important to many of our clients, and London is just the first step in our plan to build a network throughout the continent,” says Jerry Epstein, president and CEO. “To take on this task, we searched for someone with a big-agency background, an entrepreneurial spirit and a proven track record.”

Ryan was previously chief executive of GCI London. She says she is actively recruiting additional personnel, and that she plants to leverage “the substantial Zeno American client base for the U.K. and key European markets. We will be a combination of a specialist boutique and a substantially networked offer underpinned by great research, meaningful insights, and a highly motivated team looking to build a brand from the ground up.”
