BEIJING—Pegasus Communications, one of China’s leading marketing communications firms, has joined the Daniel J. Edelman group of companies. DJE, the parent to public relations flagship Edelman, has taken a majority shareholding in Pegasus.
“Edelman has been in China since 1991 and with the Pegasus acquisition, it is now our third largest market in the Edelman world,” says Daniel Edelman, founder and chairman. With the acquisition of Pegasus, DJE in China’s mainland now boasts more than 200 employees.
Pegasus, with offices in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen is a full-service marketing communications firm with capabilities in consumer marketing, public relations, events, advertising and design. It also has a strong domestic financial communications capability catering to domestic companies listed in China’s mainland.
“The addition of Pegasus to our family adds tremendous depth and geographic reach to our consumer marketing communications offer in China’s Mainland,” says Edelman’s Asia-Pacific president Alan VanderMolen. “With Pegasus now on our team, we have a platform for accelerated growth nationally, in particular in the consumer marketing arena.”
Pegasus provides clients with public relations and marketing communication solutions in FMCG, automobiles, financial services, industrial automation, real estate and consumer electronics sectors and for the past three years has been ranked one of the top 10 local agencies by the China International Public Relations Association.
“We were attracted to Edelman because of its independence, innovation, client service and corporate culture,” says Steven Cao, managing director of Pegasus. “In joining the world’s largest independent PR firm, we are providing our clients and employees access to Edelman’s global reach, expertise and intellectual property.”
This acquisition of Pegasus Communications follows Edelman’s global acquisition announced earlier this year of IndoPacific, the largest communications firm in Indonesia.
