WASHINGTON, D.C.—Blue Worldwide, the advertising affiliate of Edelman, has formed a strategic alliance with Stevens Reed Curcio & Potholm, a leading GOP political advertising firm. The two firms will pursue public affairs and referendum advertising assignments.

Edelman last year named veteran media consultant Bob McKernan as Blue’s new president and expanded Edelman vice chairman Mike Deaver’s responsibilities to include the role of vice chairman of Blue, which handles reputation, advocacy and consumer marketing assignments for corporations and trade associations.

Blue’s clients have included the Association of American Railroads, American Petroleum Institute, Recording Academy, Biotechnology Industry Organization, Office of Champagne USA, Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, and U.S. Chamber of Commerce.

Since 1993, SRCP has produced advertising for 12 currently serving U.S. Senators, six Governors and numerous U.S. House members across the country. The firm’s recent clients include national leaders such as Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (TN), National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman George Allen (VA), and Senator John McCain (AZ). The firm has also produced the advertising for ballot measure campaigns and national issue advocacy efforts for major trade associations and business coalitions.

Says McKernan, “We believe this alliance will offer certain clients a breadth and depth of strategic and creative talent that will be unique in confronting political and issue-related challenges.”
