TOKYO—Edelman has strengthened its Japanese leadership team through the appointment of Kuniko Okuwaki as deputy managing director. The firm also says it will name a new president and representative director, who will join Edelman on May 1.
Okuwaki joins the agency from Hill & Knowlton Japan, where she spent 14 years, most recently as president. She brings more than 20 years of communications and marketing consulting expertise to Edelman and has represented clients in Japan including Almond Board of California, Singapore Airlines, Computer Associates, Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer.
According to Alan VanderMolen, president of Edelman Asia-Pacific, "Japan is a unique market and requires very special, local market insight. Our new senior leadership will move us to a deeper and more relevant position in Japan.”
Edelman also announced the departure of Margaret Key, the firm's current Japan MD.
