NEW YORK—The Epilepsy Foundation has selected Edelman’s diversity group to plan and execute its 2004 National Epilepsy Awareness Month consumer campaign. The win follows a competitive review that included the incumbent, Ogilvy Public Relations.

As part of the Foundation’s new Diversity Initiative, the 2004 awareness campaign will work to increase epilepsy awareness in the African-American community while continuing general outreach to young people.  The Epilepsy Foundation will extend the campaign to include outreach to Hispanics, Asian-Americans and Native Americans in 2005 and beyond.

The account is being led by Edelman’s Diversity Solutions team, which will develop national strategies involving grassroots activities, media relations and a celebrity PSA with campaign spokesperson Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon. Diversity Solutions will be supported by Edelman’s health practice and with research from StrategyOne, the firm’s wholly-owned research firm.
