CHICAGO—Edelman has hired Valerie Alexander as senior vice president and director of public affairs for its Chicago office. She will report to Bill Keegan, executive vice president and director of the firm’s U.S. crisis and issues management practice.

From 1998 to 2004, Alexander was director of community and business relations and later Chicago chief of staff for United States Senator Richard Durbin (D-Ill.).
