CHICAGO – Ruth Edelman, the widow of Daniel J. Edelman, has been named deputy chairman of DJE Holdings, the parent company of the agency her late husband founded.

Ruth Edelman will provide counsel on the business and clients to president and CEO Richard Edelman, as well as host agency events. The position is a non-executive chairman role and will be advisory only. She is currently a member of the board of directors of DJE Holdings.

“Dan spoke with Richard about the business and clients every day,” said Ruth Edelman in a statement. “I look forward to continuing that practice.”

Daniel Edelman, who founded the agency in 1952, died last month at the age of 92. Since his passing, a new chairman of DJE has yet to be named. It is expected this appointment, which will also be a non-executive advisory role, will come from outside the agency.

With more than $600 million in fee income, Edelman is considered the world's largest PR agency.
