NEW YORK—Edelman has hired Richard Myers as executive vice president in the firm’s financial communications practice. Myers was most recently senior vice president, communications, at Nielsen Media Research and its parent company, VNU.

Myers has also held communications leadership positions at the Chicago Board of Trade and the Nasdaq Stock Market/NASD, served in the U.S. Treasury Department and on Capitol Hill as press secretary to former U.S. Congressman Fred Grandy of Iowa. He is a former television reporter and anchor for the ABC affiliate in Sioux City.

Myers will report to Andrew Merrill, global managing director, who leads the firm’s global financial practice.

Edelman lost a trio of executives from its financial practice—led by deputy general manager Richard Mahony—to Gavin Anderson & Company in November of 2005.
