Edison Schools Hires Gutierrez to Lead Communications

Edison Schools, the largest private manager of U.S. and U.K. public schools, has named J. Roberto Gutierrez as senior vice president for public affairs and communication. In a newly created post, hewill direct all of Edison Schools’ communications and public affairs

NEW YORK—Edison Schools, the largest private manager of U.S. and U.K. public schools, has named J. Roberto Gutierrez as senior vice president for public affairs and communication. In a newly created post, Gutierrez will direct all of Edison Schools’ corporate communications and public affairs, including media relations, marketing communications, community development and policy strategy.

He will report directly to chief executive officer and president Terry Stecz. Laura Eshbaugh, former interim head of communications and corporate secretary will continue as executive vice president and corporate secretary.

Gutierrez joins Edison Schools from The Dilenshneider Group, where he was a principal of the firm. Prior to that, he was vice president for public affairs and communication for the University of Notre Dame, where he directed the university’s communications and public affairs initiatives.
