New people in new roles at Intelsat, Weber Shandwick, and We Are Social.

LUXEMBOURG—Intelsat, a leading provider of satellite services, has named Patricia Cooper as vice president, government affairs and policy. Cooper will be responsible for leading the company's US, European and other international government lobbying and advocacy activities and relationship management. She will also manage Intelsat's political programs in the United States. Cooper joins from the Satellite Industry Association, where she served as president since 2007. Before that, she held senior positions at the US Federal Communications Commission.

LONDON—Weber Shandwick has hired Mike Buonaiuto as head of content & distribution, UK, overseeing the film and animation production department. He will also have responsibility for the online paid content distribution arm of the business. He joins with a background in digital and video production, directing viral campaigns for clients such as the UN, adidas, the Mayor of London, LastMinute.com, Citroën and Alfa Romeo, while working at Remarkable Group.

LONDON—We Are Social has appointed three group account directors, Yush Kalia, who joins from Edelman, Estela Drakic, formerly of TBG Digital and TAG's Will Allen. Yush spent two years at Edelmanas an account director, working on clients including XBox, Diageo and Unilever. Estela has worked across sales, management, marketing and digital sectors, serving as head of e-commerce for Oh La La Cheri brand. Will was at global brand services agency TAG as digital account director and studio manager for four years.
