New people in new roles at Edelman; new accounts at Komodo, Fishburn Hedges, Lewis PR and R/GA.

LONDON—Edelman has promoted Jackie Cooper to global vice-chairman, brand properties. Cooper is currently UK creative director and vice chair of Edelman’s UK business and has been with Edelman since selling JCPR, the business she co-founded with Edelman’s EMEA chief executive Robert Phillips, in 2004. In her new role, Cooper will be responsible for developing new products, concepts and relationships that lie at the critical intersection of brand, content and partnerships.

LONDON—Consumer consultancy Komodo PR & Digital Communications, a division of The Reptile Group, has been appointed by York Fitness to handle its PR and social media in the UK, as the company seeks to build its position as one of the biggest names in the global fitness equipment industry. Komodo will be working with York Fitness to explore new ways to build advocacy amongst consumers and gyms in the UK, through a program that incorporates media relations, sponsorship and social media activity.

LONDON—Avanta, one of the UK’s leading welfare-to-work and training providers, has appointed Fishburn Hedges to handle its public relations and public affairs engagement. Fishburn Hedges will work with Avanta on communications around the delivery of the government’s flagship work program, and will support the business as it expands into new public service markets.

LONDON—Movirtu, a leading provider of telecommunications solutions, has appointed Lewis PR as its retained agency in the UK, following a competitive pitch. Lewis will work with the in-house marketing team to increase awareness around these services, particularly to the mobile networks. Key tactics will include seeding video content, sourcing speaker opportunities, media and blogger relations and rapid response comments with the aim of increasing developed market awareness of Movirtu and to consolidate its position as market leader.

LONDON—R/GA has been named O2’s official digital partner and lead agency for the concept, strategy, branding, interface design and measurement of its recently launched Priority Moments service, which teams up with 30 brands, including WHSmith, French Connection and Harvey Nichols, to offer O2 customers location-based “moments.”
