LOS ANGELES—Hollywood corporate communications veterans Paul Pflug and Melissa Zukerman have joined forced to form the Principal Communications Group, which will focus on strategic positioning, corporate brand development, transaction representation and crisis counsel in the fields of entertainment, business and philanthropy.

The firm’s inaugural clients include Universal Pictures, Wasserman Media Group, Sony Wonder / Sony BMG Home Entertainment, MovieTickets.com, and Qualia Capital, among others.

Pflug most recently served as senior vice president of media relations for Universal Pictures, where he was the primary strategist for all internal and external corporate and executive imaging, while Zukerman had led her own self-titled corporate communications firm. The two had collaborated on the strategy and media relations activities surrounding the Universal Studios Partnerships group, as well as several Universal Pictures programs.

Earlier, Pflug spent time at Miramax Films, where he served as executive vice president, media relations and corporate communications, and at Artisan Entertainment and Bragman Nyman Cafarelli. Prior to starting Zukerman PR, Melissa served for three years as VP, corporate communications at IFILM, a leading Internet entertainment destination which was later acquired by Viacom and worked in the software division under Universal Studios Consumer Product Group.
