LONDON—Climate-KIC, the EU’s main climate innovation initiative, has appointed technology PR agency EML Wildfire to raise awareness of its role across Europe.

The appointment comes after Edelman was handed UK PR duties by the same organisation.

EML Wildfire will aim to highlight Climate-KIC's role work in bringing together education, research and business in Europe to develop products and services that help mitigate and adapt to climate change.

The pan-European campaign to aim to elevate the profile of Climate-KIC amongst students, researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs and policymakers.

The organisation is stepping up its activity in 2014 after receiving a €63m funding boost from the EU. Climate-KIC is developing a number of projects to help manage the impact of climate change in Europe, focusing on such areas as building technology, startup support and training and education.

“We wanted an agency with the skill-set to not only raise our profile, but also deepen our engagement across all of our channels and audiences," said Angela Howarth, head of communications at Climate-KIC.

"We are a diverse organisation and we were impressed how EML Wildfire was able to bring all of our activity into a coherent and precise proposal that will really increase the impact of our messages with our key audiences.”

Climate-KIC is one of the Knowledge and Innovation Communities created in 2010 by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, the EU body tasked with creating sustainable European growth while dealing with the global challenges of our time.
