SAN BRUNO, CA—Waggener Edstrom Strategic Communications has hired Paul Abrahams, former San Francisco bureau chief of the Financial Times, and Carol Sacks, former member of Microsoft Corp.’s corporate public relations team, both of whom will help lead client service and business expansion efforts for the agency.

Abrahams will provide strategic counsel to clients and help drive new business development. Abrahams was a journalist at the Financial Times for 15 years, most recently as Silicon Valley bureau chief. Before moving to California, Abrahams was the FT’s Tokyo bureau chief. While in Tokyo he was the first FT journalist to be nominated for a Pulitzer Prize. Hde covered technology, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology for the newspaper.
Sacks brings 18 years of experience in corporate and high-tech PR to Waggener Edstrom. Most recently, she was a member of Microsoft’s corporate PR team, based on the company’s Silicon Valley campus. Before taking her position with Microsoft, Sacks was the director of corporate communications for WebTV Networks.
