LONDON—Facebook has consolidated UK public relations duties with Blue Rubicon after ending a short-lived relationship with Edelman.

The social networking giant shifted its B2B PR brief from Nelson Bostock to Edelman last year. However, Facebook and Edelman parted ways before the end of 2013. Edelman UK GM Alex Bigg confirmed the split but declined to provide further details.

The Holmes Report understands that Facebook has since moved the assignment to Blue Rubicon, the consultancy that has handled its corporate and public affairs duties since 2010.

The B2B brief covers Facebook's advertising, product and platform units. The company's outreach to advertisers and agencies forms a critical element of its B2B proposition, particularly as its mobile advertising services expand.

Facebook reported revenues of $7.87bn in 2013, an increase of 55%, thanks in part to soaring mobile advertising revenues. In the UK, ad revenues were expected to exceed £300m.

“Following the changes to internal team roles and ahead of team maternity leave we decided to consolidate all Facebook UK media enquiries to Blue Rubicon to help us to effectively manage these changes internally,” said a Facebook spokesperson.

The split with Edelman is reminiscent of a similarly short-lived relationship between the agency and Twitter in 2011.
