LONDON—FD has acquired Santé Communications, a leading specialist communications consultancy dedicated to the healthcare industry. Working with FD’s existing life sciences practice and issues management group, Santé will provide clients with a range of consulting skills spanning marketing, financial, corporate, public affairs and medical communications.
Santé, which was founded in 1995 by Liz Shanahan, operates out of offices in central London. The consultancy advises many leading healthcare businesses and organizations across the sector and specializes in public relations, public affairs and medical education. Clients include Pfizer, Sanofi-Aventis, GlaxoSmithKline, Actelion Pharmaceuticals, BMS, Baxter and the ABPI (the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry).
The Santé team will form a key part of FD’s growing U.K. corporate and brand practice, which supports public and private sector clients drawn from technology, financial services, transportation and travel, professional services, industrials, inward investment and property. The team is led by Tony Danaher, co-founder of Tamesis, which was acquired by FD in January 2005.
FD has a presence in life sciences both in Europe and North America representing many leading businesses in the sector including Shire, Sanofi Pasteur MSD, BTG, Novartis, Wyeth, Smith & Nephew, Ark Therapeutics, Cambridge Labs, Whatman and GE Healthcare.
According to Charles Watson, FD group chief executive, “Healthcare has consistently proven to be one of our industry’s most dynamic sectors. While we have built a financial communications offer that is second to none, we have recognized for some time both the need and opportunity to offer clients in the sector a broader base of specialist services. Santé provides us with that opportunity.”
