CHICAGO—FD Ashton Partners has been selected by Tropicana Entertainment to lead internal and external communications surrounding its May 5 Chapter 11 filing, one of the largest filings of 2008.
Emphasizing that its casino and resort properties are more than adequately financed and that it will continue to serve customers on a “business as usual” basis, Tropicana filed voluntary petitions for reorganization to allow a comprehensive restructuring.
FD Ashton Partners will be responsible for proactive and reactive communications with employees, vendors, customers and influencers across 11 properties in eight distinct gaming markets, as well as affiliated entities. To prepare local teams, the firm developed a comprehensive communications toolkit specific to the need in each market and built the company’s restructuring website, among other initiatives.
The assignment will draw on the expertise of FD’s Chicago-based litigation practice and New York-based special situations team, in addition to the recently acquired capabilities of Chicago-based Ashton Partners. The team will include Harlan Loeb, managing director of the national litigation practice; Michael Geczi, executive vice president, corporate communications; and Caroline Hoenk, assistant vice president in the national litigation practice.
