LONDON—Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has named Martin Liptrot as regional CEO for Europe, Africa and Middle East (EAME). Liptrot joins Ogilvy from FedEx Corporation where he was managing director of global communications based in the company’s Memphis, Tenn., headquarters.
Liptrott takes over from Steve Dahloff, who had been running European operations on an interim basis since the departure in the summer of last year of Matthew Anderson, who took the senior corporate communications position in-house with Rupert Murdoch’s BSkyB. Dahloff will stay on for a brief transition period before returning to the U.S.
Liptrot has a strong international background, having managed global corporate, public affairs and corporate social responsibility programs for Fortune 100 companies. Most recently at FedEx he led a global team of 50 communications professionals supporting the CEO and worldwide senior executive team. Liptrot also worked at New York-based Altria Corporate Services, formerly Philip Morris Management Corporation, and at Philip Morris International headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland where he led communications in Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Liptrot also managed media campaigns for the UK Labour Party in the 1994 European and 1997 General Election and remains close to leading figures within government.
Says Marcia Silverman, CEO of Ogilvy PR Worldwide, “Martin’s arrival signals an excellent opportunity to further position our London operation as a catalyst for growth across EAME. In addition, his experience, international outlook and energy reinforces our ability to offer truly global, creative and integrated solutions for brands and businesses.”
Ogilvy’s EAME network includes 35 offices and affiliates.
