LOS ANGELES—FischerHealth, the west coast healthcare subsidiary of Porter Novelli, has launched a life sciences practice. Miriam Weber has been appointed senior vice president and national practice leader, and Amy Martini has joined as senior vice president and group director.

Weber, based in Atlanta, and Martini, in New York, will develop and implement corporate communication programs for emerging biotechnology and biopharmaceutical companies. Specialty areas within the practice will include public relations, investor relations, media relations and regulatory communications.

“The diverse talents and decades of biocommunication experience that Miriam and Amy represent, combined with the support of our parent company Porter Novelli, enable FischerHealth to address and anticipate the communication needs of companies and organizations throughout the dynamic and flourishing life sciences sector,” said Roger Fischer, CEO, FischerHealth.

Weber was a founding member of Biosector2, a Chandler Chicco Company, and she co-directed the financial communications practice at Noonan/Russo with Martini. Her primary areas of expertise include corporate and product communications, issues management, financial and internal communications and corporation/product branding and positioning.

Martini headed the life sciences practice at Edelman and co-directed Noonan/Russo’s financial communications practice. Her expertise includes investor and corporate communications, strategic positioning, crisis preparedness and resolution, and in-house communications resource deployment.
