WASHINGTON, DC—FP1 Strategies—launched in 2011 by high-profile GOP veterans Terry Nelson, Jon Downs and Danny Diaz—has added former Burson Marsteller US chief executive Dave DenHerder as a partner to lead the firm's public affairs practice.

DenHerder brings more than 20 years of communications experience across the automotive, energy, healthcare, corporate and political sectors. Most recently, CEO of Burson-Marsteller’S US operations, he managed public affairs, crisis management, corporate reputation and media relations campaigns. Earlier, he ran Direct Impact, Burson's grassroots subsidiary.

In addition, DenHerder has more than a decade of experience in national and statewide politics. He served as a regional political director for the Bush-Cheney campaign in 2004, managing political and grassroots operations in the Midwest. During President George W. Bush's administration, he served as White House liaison and special assistant to the U.S. Secretary of Labor. He also worked on the Bush-Cheney campaign in 2000 and various major statewide races during the 1990s. 

DenHerder began his career on Capitol Hill with former US Representatives Jim Leach and Jon Christensen.
