PARSIPPANY, NJ—Coyne PR has hired Jean Gould, a 15-year veteran of Exxon, as director of corporate and government affairs. Gould will join the agency’s Shell account team, and lend her expertise to counsel other accounts at the agency as needed.

Gould held various positions at Exxon from 1986 through 2000, starting as an engineer and working her way up to an advisor for international corporate affairs at Exxon International, where she coordinated PR activities and crisis communication plans for international operations. She also led a $3.5 billion development project in sub-Sahara Africa, which involved activities on three continents.

Between 1994 and 1997, Gould served as a lobbyist representing Exxon Corporate in Washington, D.C., managing public policy and international business issues for corporate activities in Asia, Africa and Latin America.  She also handled government, community and media relations on various issues, including the Exxon Valdez lawsuits.
