WASHINGTON, D.C.— Dean Acosta, former NASA press secretary and deputy assistant administrator for public affairs, is joining Qorvis Communications as a managing director.  Acosta will help guide Qorvis’ aerospace and technology clients, including Pratt & Whitney. He will also contribute to the firm’s media relations and crisis communications teams.

Acosta served as chief spokesperson, press secretary and senior adviser to the NASA administrator and deputy administrator. His experience includes coordinating NASA’s response to the shuttle Columbia accident in 2003.

Prior to NASA, Acosta spent 12 years as a television, radio and print journalist and received an Emmy award for investigative reporting. He has hosted his own radio show, written a newspaper column and covered the energy industry in the United States, Russia, Japan, Brazil, Austria and England.
